Observed on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month, the Laba Festival marks the start of the Spring Festival countdown. International students in Nanchong, Sichuan Province, have been invited to nearby Langzhong, a place widely regarded as the birthplace of the Spring Festival, to experience traditional Laba customs. For most, this was their first time celebrating Laba in the ancient city. They joined in the tradition of eating Laba porridge and took part in intangible cultural heritage activities, including writing the Chinese character "Fu", symbolizing good fortune, to welcome the coming holiday.
